Recognizing the potential of the local rivers for extreme water sports, VITA, with the support of the US Embassy, initiated a project to introduce modern marine capabilities to the local population.

Understanding the challenging nature of shallow and rocky riverbeds, we equipped the local community boats with specialized Mercury Jet engines—specifically the F40 JET EFI and JET 80ELPT 4S models. Unlike traditional propeller engines, these jet drives allow for safe navigation in shallow waters, minimizing the risk of damage and maximizing safety for passengers. This technological intervention turned what was once a difficult logistical challenge into a thriving commercial opportunity.

Today, river tours in Makhuntseti have become a favorite activity for tourists visiting the region. What started as a supply project has evolved into a profitable business for the local community, creating jobs and sustainable income for families living in the area. As a result of this reliability and economic success, the interest in the Mercury brand has increased significantly across the region.
